Dem Senator Ignores Constitution – Demands Censure of Rush Limbaugh

with one comment

Ken Salazar is the junior Democratic senator from Colorado and was one of 41 senators who signed the “phony letter” condemning radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh for the now infamous “phony soldiers” comment.

The idiocy of Democrats trying to stoke a firestorm from two words taken out of context is for another discussion. Suffice it to say, the Democrats were feeling the heat from the “General Betray Us” ad in the New York Times placed by MoveOn.org and are feverishly trying to shift the American public’s building anger through what a therapist would call transference.
Apparently, signing the letter was not enough for Sen. Salazar…or maybe he just wanted his two minutes in the limelight. Whatever the supposed reason, Salazar has said he supports a measure in the Senate to censure Rush Limbaugh. Since there is no such measure currently planned in the Senate, I assume Salazar intends to introduce it.

Now either Salazar believes his constituency in Colorado, not to mention the rest of the nation, is completely stupid and totally ignorant of the United States Constitution…or Salazar is completely stupid and ignorant of the Constitution.

Censure is the congressional procedure for reprimanding the President of the United States, a member of Congress, or a sitting judge. Its basis is found in Article 1, Section 5 of the United States Constitution and derives from the formal condemnation of either congressional body to one of their own members.

Unless Salazar intends to appoint Rush Limbaugh as a United States Senator, there is no way in hell that he or any other member of Congress can censure a private citizen.
