Harry Reid Praises Limbaugh on Sale of Letter for $2,100,100

with 3 comments

Politico.com reports that Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has just announced on the Senate floor congratulations to himself and Rush Limbaugh for the money “they” raised for a worthwhile cause.

“What could be a more worthwhile cause?” Reid asked today on the floor. “I think it’s really good that this money on eBay is going to be raised for this purpose. When I spoke to Mark Mays, he and I thought this probably wouldn’t make much money, a letter written by Democratic senators complaining about something.”

“Never did we think that this letter would bring money of this nature,” Reid said. “Everyone knows that Rush Limbaugh and I don’t agree on everything in life, and maybe that is kind of an understatement. But without qualification, Mark Mays, the owner of the network that has Rush Limbaugh and Rush Limbaugh should know that this letter that they’re auctioning is going to be something that raises money for a worthwhile cause.”

It takes a lot of gall to praise the money raised for this charity when you were the very object of scorn that guaranteed its success. The now infamous letter was written by Reid, signed by another 40 Democrats including Clinton and Obama, and addressed to Clear Channel boss Mark Mays. The purpose of the letter was an attempt by 41 Democratic senators to deprive a private citizen of his gainful employment, his earned income, and his right to free speech.

Rush 1 – Democratic Senate 0.

The letter went for $2,100,100, won by philanthropist Betty Casey. Rush will match the winning bid bringing the total to $4,200,200 to the Marine Corp – Law Enforcement Foundation.
