Longer Than World War II

In its reporting on the 3,000 military death in Iraq last week, CNN concludes their report with,

“The war in Iraq has now lasted longer than U.S. involvement in World War II, which claimed more than 405,000 U.S. military lives as the United States and its allies battled Germany, Japan, and Italy.”

CNN of course is not the first, nor will it be the last of the left leaning mainstream media and left wing Democratic Party leaders of Pelosi and company, to point out this so-called salient fact.

I’m not sure what this fact” is supposed to indicate, but I assume CNN felt it was important enough to mention. My guess is CNN is cognizant of the limited objectivity and historical knowledge of its audience or CNN feels the gage to which all wars should be measured is their duration.

Unremarkable, CNN failed to mention how we ended World War II. A couple of nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki got Japan to surrender in eight days. Is CNN hinting we should nuke Baghdad?
